Roberto Porsia, GM Serafina Boston

Born in Miami and raised in Rome, Italy, Roberto Porsia thought he wanted a career in Political Science. After graduating from the University of Rome in 2005, however, he returned to U.S., began waiting tables and never looked back. His roots in the hospitality industry began at Trattoria Toscana, a tiny hidden gem in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood where a husband and wife duo taught him the ins and outs, the good and the ugly, and the rewards and the pressures of running a restaurant. Roberto was instantly hooked.

In 2007, Roberto moved to Hollywood, CA to get his West Coast fix. As Dining Room manager at Terroni, known for its authentic southern Italian cuisine, Roberto further groomed his management skills while catering to a high-profile clientele.

Upon returning to Boston, Roberto joined Sel de la Terre, a Provence-inspired French restaurant with three locations, a wholesale bakery and central commissary. Sel de la Terre offered a look into a larger-scale food and beverage operation, which proved just as exciting to Roberto as the small family-run shops of his beginnings.

Roberto took the natural next step and entered a more corporate food and beverage operation at The Charles Hotel in Cambridge’s Harvard Square. There, Roberto led the dining room at “Top Chef” Jody Adams’ Rialto restaurant. Roberto’s Italian background was a great asset in promoting Ms. Adam’s Italian regional-inspired cuisine.

In 2011, Roberto joined boutique hotelier Morgans Hotel Group as General Manager of Woodward, a modern day tavern at Ames hotel in downtown Boston. At Woodward, Roberto was a jack-of-all-trades, overseeing daily restaurant operations, private events and room service, in addition to helping cultivate a popular nightlife scene.

When not manning the floor, Roberto is keeping up with current political affairs and social trends. He is also an avid European soccer and music follower. He currently resides with his wife in the North End, Boston’s “Little Italy”.

Roberto is thrilled to be part of restaurateur Seth Greenberg’s newest ventures and management group.
